Abstract:
Article is devoted to the eastern borders of the greatest penetration of the Dnepr-
Prut Babyne culture (DPBC). The basic method of research is the method of mapping
burials. At first were defined diagnostic criteria burials Dnepr-Dniester steppe local
variant of DPBC, most eastern monuments of which was founded between Azov See
and Severski Donets. On the basis of these criteria has been allocated 17 burials with
features of DPBK and given their general characteristics (Tab. 1, Fig. 1-5). Mapping
of these sites demonstrates their localization by two groups. The first of them is
spread on the immediate periphery of the area of the Dnepr-Dniester local variant of
DPBC – in basin of left bank tributaries of the Dnepr – Samara, Vovcha, Konka and
adjacent areas without going east Kalmius and Kazenyi Torets. The second group is
located in the Seversky Donets basin (Lugansk reg.). It’s revealed a certain difference
between this group of burials and DPBC, which, together with the isolation of area of
the latter, does not permit incorporating these burials in the Dnepr-Dniester variant of
DPBC. Question of the origins and evaluation of Severski Donets group burials yet
remains open.
